Arguably one of the best bands to ever hit South Texas, Blacrose left a multitude of followers wanting more. Maybe you were one of the Blackrose fan base.

Where did you see Blackrose? Do you have a story you can tell about the band? What were your favorite tunes they did? Leave a comment and keep the memory alive.

Many thanks, many memories
I don\'t know if you will receive this or not. They say you can find anything on the internet and now I believe it. I found my favorite local bar band of the late 80\'s. It was a band called, \"Blackrose\". They were more than great. They were not a cover band, but rather played the songs like they just discovered them, and to those of us lucky to see them perform felt we were dancing and/or singing to them. Yes I was so attracted to JD Martinez, as my closest friend said, \"You have a rock and roll fantasy\", fitting phrase for the times. I did too, but I was also very shy. I have always thought they were a very tight performing and sounding band. Each member had something to bring to the mix. I followed them from my living in New Braunfels in late 1970 to early 1980\'s, giving JD a matchbook from John Newcombe\'s tennis ranch, my current employer at the time. I lost touch with my friend from New Braunfels that worked late like I did and thought \"Skip Willy\'s\" sounded like a place to have fun close to home. I\'m sorry I can\'t show what I found to my mother. She knows how I felt when I talked about how great this guy in this band was to have all these talents and still be a decent person. I didn\'t fall often, especially for musicians, but in Austin you were either a musician or politician. I don\'t know if it is still the same. I\'m sure to a degree. My mother gave me a gift that had many special meanings. When she gave it to me I was almost 20 years past my \"Blackrose\" days. She told me to guess what was my love of my younger days. I told her \"Blackrose\" and she gave me a sterling silver and marcasite rose pendant that she thought I might like. I still have the pendant and matching earrings but I miss her more. I thank you for putting this website together and all the memories, forgive me Bob Hope.
Love, Newc\'s Tennis Ranch
